Open Retreat | November 13-15

During the Wool Mitten Class each participant will use upcycled felted wool sweaters and fleece to sew a pair of wool mittens with a fleece inner lining. A large variety of felted wool and fleece will be provided during class along with different size patterns for hands from child size to large adult. Instructions will be provided for preparing your own upcycled wool sweaters at home. These mittens make great Christmas gifts that are enthusiastically received by anyone living in a cold weather climate!

The Free Motion Quilting Class is designed to teach simple free motion quilting techniques for the home sewing machine. During free motion quilting, the quilter disengages the machine’s feed dogs so that the quilt can be freely moved in any direction while stitching, allowing for the creation of fun patterns and designs. Each participant will be given 2 small quilt sandwiches, free motion design demos, and plenty of time to practice their free motion quilting.

Confetti quilting is a fast and simple technique ideally suited for landscape and nature art quilts. During this 6 hour class, we will each make an 11”x14” art quilt using fabric pieces and free motion quilting. We will also discuss how to use a variety of techniques to add buildings, flowers, wildlife, and other elements to a confetti base.

Landscape Wool Felting Retreat | June 24-26
Instructor: Gerlyn Brasic
Immerse yourself in a weekend of nature and wool felting! During this 3 day retreat, we will create landscape pictures from wool roving, yarn, and other fibers. No previous felting experience is needed. Both wet and dry needle felting techniques will be taught as we work on our projects.
There is no supply list for this class—everything you need is included in the workshop fee along with meals and snacks throughout the weekend. Lodging options are available for as low as $40 per night.
